5th Anniversary of Hori Fumiko's Death Project Part 2: Hori Fumiko on the Road - A Life Engraved in Sketches
Hori Fumiko passed away at the age of 100 in 2019, much to the regret of her many fans. The Great Kanto Earthquake made her realize the impermanence of the world, and she carved out her own path in life despite facing many difficulties, including the harshness of life as a woman in society and her experiences of war. This exhibition explores her life through the keyword ""travel."" In addition to showcasing sketches from the museum's collection, we will also exhibit her works alongside those of Shōen Uemura, in recognition of her achievement in receiving the 2nd Uemura Shōen Award in 1952. We will also exhibit works by Ogura Yuuki, who influenced Fumiko, and Kayama Matazo, who was active at the same time in the Soga Exhibition, to present Fumiko's art from various angles.
