Yoshiko Mibuchi was the model for the protagonist in the TV drama series "Wings of the Tiger."
In 1940 (Showa 15), just before the Pacific War, Japan's first female lawyers were born...one of them was Mibuchi.
After the war, she went on to become a judge, becoming Japan's first female judge, and her first post was at the Nagoya District Court...the current building of the Nagoya Municipal Archives.
Mibuchi served as a judge in Nagoya for three years and five months, from December 1952 (Showa 27) to April 1956 (Showa 31).
This coincided with the period when Nagoya's post-war reconstruction work, which it had embarked on early, was getting underway and eye-catching structures such as wide roads and TV towers were coming up all over the city.
Why not follow in Mibuchi's footsteps in Nagoya, while imagining what Nagoya must have looked like through his eyes at the time?
