Special Exhibition "The Heads of the Chiyokura Family II"
This event has ended.
In this second installment of our series introducing the successive heads of the Chiyokura family, we introduce the sixth head, Shimogō Gakukai.
Shimogō Gakukai was known as a man who excelled in academics and loved elegance. He sought out teachers far and wide, studying and enjoying classical Chinese, Chinese poetry, waka poetry, haiku, calligraphy, painting, music, and more. He welcomed scholars and writers who visited Owari into his home and became his pupils, and the breadth of his connections was known throughout the country. We will introduce his personality and a glimpse into his wide circle of friends.
