Fireworks painting the night sky

The Nagoya Port Festival began in 1946 as a means to restore the joy of the local area after WWII. Its finale fireworks show too started soon after in 1948, adding to the festivities. The festival currently acts as an announcement of the warm summer season and holds parades, communal dances, and other event beloved by the citizens of Nagoya.

Stage events

• Time: 2:30 pm–5:30 pm
• Location: Gathering Square or Port House, Port of Nagoya Garden Pier (Location varies by time. Check the official site for details.)
• Details: Marching band performance, kagura dance performance, Japanese Taiko Drum and Performing Arts Festival, and concerts (Events vary by time. Check the official site for details.)

Parades

• Time: 3:30 pm–8:00 pm
• Location: Nishi Tsukiji Elementary School, Tsukiji Jinja Shrine, and Port of Nagoya Garden Pier (Location varies by time. Check the official site for details.)
• Details: Parades by the Sea Cadets, unicycles, and musical troupes as well as a Japanese parade float procession (Events vary by time. Check the official site for details.)

Communal Dance

• Time: 5:45 pm–7:00 pm
• Location: Gathering Square, Port of Nagoya Garden Pier
• Details: A communal dance by locals

Fireworks show

• Time: 7:30 pm–8:10 pm
• Location: Around Port of Nagoya Garden Pier
• Details: Memorial, sequenced, musically choreographed, and other fireworks (around 3,000) launched into the night sky
