Osu Kannon Temple Setsubun Festival
A must-see experience at a must-see temple
Osu Kannon Temple is located in the middle of the Owari region's four Kannon Temples (Arako Kannon Temple, Jimokuji Kannon Temple, Ryusenji Kannon Temple, and Kasadera Kannon Temple), and puts on a Setsubun Festival celebrating the beginning of spring by the lunar calendar.
During the festivities, for a JPY 3,500 ticket, you can get up on the special stage in front of the Main Hall and throw out beans in a traditional ritual driving away evil. Plus, a treasure ship is paraded around carrying the seven gods of fortune from Kibo no Plaza to Ozu Kannon Temple in the afternoon. After arriving at Osu Kannon Temple, the climax of a ritual to drive away demons begins.
