Highway SOUND Hoi hoi, crunchy, ring ring ring
Our world is filled with various sounds. In particular, the sounds we encounter on our travels deeply move us, bringing freshness, healing, and a sense of elation.
This exhibition will introduce the sounds that color the journeys of the Edo period from the world of Utagawa Hiroshige's paintings. Even in the Edo period, sounds unique to travel echoed, such as the shouts of Kumosuke and daimyo processions traveling along the highway, the pure sounds of horse bells and shakujo held by monks, the sad sounds of the shamisen played by goze women, and the words and songs unique to the region.
When we listen closely to the sounds that flow along our journey, we will be led to an unknown experience that transcends time and space.
Go on a journey to collect sounds that enrich your travels and are engraved deep in the memories of Japanese people.
