Sumiyaki Unafuji Shirakabe-bettei and Shinobiguchi Location

Sumiyaki Unafuji Shirakabe-bettei and Shinobiguchi Location

A famous Nagoya restaurant listed on Michelin and other food critics

This is a renowned Nagoya restaurant established in 1995 and offers elegant eel cuisine. But what sets it apart from other eel eateries is the fact that it uses only "blue eels", three times larger than the typical eels used by other restaurants. Sumiyaki Unafuji Shirakabe-bettei's trademark is the way it lightly grills the eel, and then without steaming it, grills it again with the characteristic sweet sauce. Grilled at a high distance above a high heat, the skin becomes crispy with soft meat inside.
The hidden-away Shinobiguchi next to the main location is only accessible through a characteristically Japanese entry much smaller than normal establishments' entrances. The sophisticated and refined atmosphere offers the added treat of a courtyard full of botanical accents for each of the four seasons as you enjoy your meal in a soothing environment.
