2024 Plum Blossom Information

Approx. 70 trees of more than 10 varieties (white and red)
In bloom:
Around mid-Feb–mid-Mar
About 70 plum trees of more than 10 varieties decorate the Nishi-no-Maru and Ni-no-Maru Areas as well as other spots around the Nagoya Castle premises and come into bloom from mid-February to mid-March. Enjoy different flowers varying by area against offering a myriad of atmospheres. These plum blossoms offer the perfect marriage between natural beauty and Nagoya Castle's culture.

Nagoya City Agricultural Center dela Farm
Approx. 700 trees of 12 varieties (weeping plum blossoms)

Around late Feb–mid-Mar
Nagoya City Agricultural Center dela Farm is renowned around Japan for its nearly 700 weeping plum blossoms of 12 varieties. The flowers come into full bloom from late February to mid-March and release their fragrances throughout the entire area. During this period, the Weeping Plum Blossom Festival is also held with morning and open-air markets as well as a myriad of stage events and more.

Weeping Plum Blossom Festival

Togokusan Fruits Park
Approx. 150 trees of approx. 40 varieties (white, red, and weeping plum blossoms)
In bloom:
Early Feb–mid-Mar
Togokusan Fruits Park has a plum tree grove full of about 150 plum trees and around 40 varieties of blossoms coming into bloom from early February to mid-March. You can even harvest the plums for yourself in the grove on weekends from late May to June. Check the official site for details.

Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Gardens features 200 plum trees with nearly 20 varieties coming into bloom from early February to mid-March and painting the premises in splendid colors. Be sure to go to the Ume no Oka and Ume no Tani plum groves for a collection of beautiful blossoms.

Odaka Greenery Park

Late Feb–mid-Mar
Odaka Greenery Park is home to as many as 400 plum trees with 15 varieties which bloom from late February to mid-March. Plum blossoms paint the park in beautiful hues and the pond offers a mirror image of white, reds, and pinks from its surface. The Plum Blossom Festival is held at the same time as when the flowers are at their peak with food trucks and various hands-on events available on weekends. Arako Park
Approx. 300 trees (white, red, and weeping plum blossoms)

Late Feb–mid-Mar
Arako Park lies right in between Takabata Station on the Higashiyama Line and Arako Station on the Aonami Line. From late February to mid-March, some 300 plum trees bloom into brilliant colors of white and red with weeping plum trees too, making the park a locally popular and low-key spot to enjoy the blossoms. Food trucks, markets, and other events make the park their stage during the Plum Blossom Festival while neighboring Arako Kannonji Temple puts on the Arako Enku Market with fresh vegetables, handmade accessories, and food and other booths available.

Meijo Park Flower Plaza

The Flower Plaza inside Meijo Plaza displays about 20 plum trees under the title of the Plum Blossom Festival. Behold a beautifully recreated plum grove inside a toasty greenhouse with the blossoms' wondrous scents sealed inside. Weekends during the Plum Blossom Festival's period offer guests casual cuisine and popular sweets from food trucks in addition to street performers, kids dances, and other events sure to please all, no matter their age.

Souri Pond Plum Grove (Chita City)

Mid-Feb–mid-Mar
The area around Souri Pond puts on the largest display of plum trees in Aichi Prefecture with some 6,000 showing off their beautiful blossoms. These special Souri Plum Trees, bred in the Souri area, are designated the natural monument of Chita City. A plum blossom festival too is held with a variety of events and local eats to serve as the cherry on top as you enjoy the picturesque flowers.
Operating hours / Days closed: Open access throughout park (Ume no Yakata Hall open 9:00 am–5:00 pm [closed Mon], but open every day during the Souri Pond Plum Blossom Festival.)

Early Feb–early Mar
See a variety of blossoms blooming at early, intermediate, and late periods in the season at one of the eastern Mikawa area's largest plum tree groves in the Mukaiyama Greenery Park. During the Spring Festival, teahouses make an appearance offering tea and sweets like rice dumplings. A Spring Festival Instagram Photo Contest too is held, offering local specialty produce as presents for the winner.
