In this workshop, you can experience Tsumami-zaiku, which is a traditional Japanese craft that dates back to the Edo period. Discover the beauty of this centuries-old craft by creating a frame decorated with a morning glory flower.

What is Tsumami- Zaiku?

Tsumami-zaiku is a traditional craft that originated from about 200 years ago during the Edo period. It involves pinching and folding small square pieces of fabric to create delicate designs such as flowers and birds, and more.
Traditionally, this has been used for making kanzashi(hair ornaments)that are worn in the hair of women dressed in kimonos, but today Tsumami-zaiku regained popularity as a handmade craft for accessories and home décor.
This time, the theme is Asagao (morning glory), which is a symbol of summer and the flower brings a sense of coolness to Japanese people whenever they see it. You will have the opportunity to craft a beautiful frame featuring it.
Our workshop welcomes all ages, genders, and nationalities. Beginners are also warmly welcome.
Come and experience the enchanting world of Tsumami-zaiku, and create a beautiful piece to feel Japanese summer!
We look forward to your participation!
