Led by Chieko Hiramatsu, an expert in the art of shamisen, this event offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of Kabuki and Joruri through her storytelling and mesmerizing shamisen performance.
After enjoying the powerful sounds and rhythms up close, you’ll get the chance to play the shamisen yourself!

No prior experience is needed—this workshop is designed for anyone to enjoy, whether you're completely new to shamisen or already a fan of Japanese music!
Instructor
Ms. Chieko Hiramatsu
A dedicated performer who not only plays the shamisen but also writes and narrates her own scripts, Chieko Hiramatsu captivates audiences across Japan with her solo storytelling performances and live shows. Based in Nagoya, she also works as an MC and announcer while hosting a monthly members-only "Hidden Gem Live" event. Additionally, she runs a traditional music school in Moriyama Ward, Nagoya, where she teaches shamisen and short lyrical songs (Hauta).
